It was 1976, I was watching my older brother make Airfix models in his bedroom whilst he listened to his favourite singer, David Bowie. At this time I was 8 years old and I was always intrigued by what my big brother was doing. This night was no different from any other night, I loved looking at the model planes and historical royal family figures, but this night I came across the cover to the album my brother was playing on his radiogramme,
David Bowies The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust. I was blown away by the picture on the back. A man stood in a dimly lit phone box holding a cigarette. This image has stayed with me all my life and I still enjoy looking at it today. It formed my creative passions and the way I love colour and mood in images. Sadly the man in the picture, and my brother are no longer with us, but I'm thankful for that night when he allowed me to look at his things. As an 8 year old boy this image stirred in me a passion to create things in a certain way and still holds me today almost 50 years later.
